Aquaslash (2019)

"Thrills, Chills and screwball comedy meet tiny bikinis and gory dismemberment in this chlorine and blood drenched murder mystery."

So says the cover. So says it all.

An eighties slasher remade for today's audience. This bears all the same hallmarks of slashers been and gone and in that regard, it delivers on the very, very simple premise. Bikinis and blood, essentially.

We get it, pretty, sociable young Americans are horny and like to fool around. The less sociable ones get angry about it and chop them to bits, given half a chance. It's not subtle, that's for sure.

It's very short and most of the 'action' comes in the last twenty minutes or so, but know this before bothering - it's really not worth bothering. This is superfluous to a genre that, at its height, was far less sophisticated than it is capable of today and slashing today is a lot less shocking than it was at the time.
