As a man nearly twice her age and far from the demographic for this type of thing, I sometimes wonder if Swift ever suffers from imposter syndrome. I'm sure she gets nervous, believe it or not, she is only human after all, but the amount of head-spinning adoration must feel hard to live up to, even if she is actually more than a marketing executive's dream.
She would have you believe that this is all her doing, that she is the brains behind her own success, and this may or may not be true. More importantly, I don't really think it matters as long as it works, which it really, really does. Like it or not however, it would be best to remember that cheeky smile as she walks off with your thousand dollars that you had to fork out for tickets for your ten-year-old daughter and her friends to witness it first hand.
No wonder she's smiling.
Swift, having found that rich vein in the cash cow of singing from the heart and dropping truth bombs on her exes attracts a certain audience that feel a kinship to what the billionaire songstress has experienced in her personal life. So Swift recognised the problems that every pretty, successful white girl suffers from and is not the least bit shy to tell them. So her and her audience are kind of kindred spirits. Friends even?
Regardless of how cycnical you may or may not be about the woman herself, you cannot deny her meteoric rise to success from country mainstream to pop megastardom. Realistically, you can probably count on a couple of hands the names that absolutely everyone on the planet had heard of, and she can include herself in that group.
Lest we forget the Eras Tour is a show. a quite remarkable achievement, but authenticity begs answers to questions that are easily brushed aside amongst the thousands of spotlights. Not a Swifty (or is it Swiftie, no idea) I have enjoyed the odd tune of hers over the last seventeen years featured here, but this three hour version seems like a bit of a drag. Still, you can't accuse her of not giving her fans value for money.
I was told that you didn't need to be a fan to love this. I disagree, I think you definitely do, especially if you peel back the gloss and shimmer that sugar coats her very essence. When I get the feeling that the length of her skirt was decided by committee, then admire the attention to detail, because the image is not an accident.
