What is the requisite number of people that have to inhabit a town before you put up a welcome sign at its' borders announcing said number? Venus had 468, apparently.
Doesn't it seem likely that the number is already large enough to expect that number to change, and rendering the previously designed signage incorrect, and therefore irrelevant. Seems a bit wasteful, if you ask me, albeit excellent for the sign-making industry, I'd imagine.
As you can tell, it doesn't take much to get my mind wandering if not suitably stimulated. See where I'm going here?
One of three, apparently, this re-tells the same story as the original movie starring Liv Tyler from 2008. Why it was felt that a re-telling was required is beyond me, but if someone is prepared to throw their money at it to get it made, who can really tell them no?
A pretty young couple in love get stuck in out of the way Venus when their car breaks down and are forced to spend the night in a remote cabin surrounded by forestry that would make The Evil Dead a little nervous. Now any self-respecting horror lover will have seen this at least once before. Done better than this too.
Unoriginal, obviously, this really has trouble maintaining any tension for those familiar with this type of thing. The demographic, however, will be expected to have been sitting in their own shit when the first one came out, so maybe this will come as more of a surprise for date night.
For the rest of us, just roll your eyes and heave a heavy sigh. It looks pretty but that's pretty much all it has going for it. Rated 15, probably for everything it's missing rather than all it contains. Really should have saved it for Spooktober, it may have fared better there.
